Unfortunately, the VTT never truly reached that goal. Worry about IP (sharing content/adventures) and a desire to someday control/sell content (making it hard for DMs to create and share) all while never delivering content (DDI or LFR) meant nothing truly worked.Ĭanceling the VTT isn’t the problem. Looking at the VTT yesterday showed all of 2 possible games. My hope is that Wizards has learned a few lessons: There were only a few heroes running frequent games (thanks, guys!). It really is a good idea to draw people to the Wizards site. It really is a great idea to make DMs’ jobs easier and to make it easier for players to find games. Combining content through tools can create an incredible value proposition. All the time people were excited and eager for the promise. The problem was the execution on that vision. At each step and with every digital offering we see a vast divide between the concept, the timing, and the offering. In most cases, there was never a proper effort to deliver on the vision.Įxcellent project management and experienced project oversight are the keys to execution. Wizards has lacked those throughout all of these years. They aren’t the only ones to lack this (not at all), but in the RPG industry none has mismanaged technical projects with the scale and frequency with which Wizards has. Great organizations hire great project managers who know how to protect projects against changes, especially changes in goals from upper management. Great project managers make the results of change clear, such that… #Jugar nebulous online how to# The results of a change in approach should never be unexpected. When one tool is delayed for another, when functionality is altered, when parts meant to connect are kept disconnected, this must always be well understood by the talented project manager and their superior.
